Saturday, 09 January 2010, one former Director of Forestry Department, Haji Abd Rahman bin Hj Chuchu was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment by the Intermediate Court, Bandar Seri Begawan after he was found guilty for one count of offence under Section 6(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131).

Investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption revealed that the defendant, on 26 October 1999, while he was the Director of Forestry Department, had knowingly used Government’s Payment Voucher which contained a statement which was false in material particular, with intent to deceive the Government of His Majesty the Sultan by approving payment relating to the purchase of: 1 (one) unit of equipment namely ‘“HUMMINBIRD� W 30 Paramount Finders’ for a sum of BND$1,400.00 (One Thousand Four Hundred Dollars).
