Tuesday, 02 March 2010, a local businesswoman, Chen Yen Dji was fined $6,000 (Six Thousand Dollars) or 6 months imprisonment in default, by the Magistrate�s Court, Bandar Seri Begawan after she was found guilty on one count of charge under Section 6(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131).

The Deputy Public Prosecutor, Hj Nabil Daraina bin PUKDPSS Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin informed the Court that investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau disclosed that the defendant on 30 August 2008, inside a vehicle registration number KK 8068 parked behind the Standard Insurance Sdn Bhd office in the vicinity of the Surau near Supersave Complex Gadong, Brunei Darussalam, did corruptly offer one police personnel a gratification of a sum of BND$200.00 (Two Hundred Dollars) as an inducement for forbearing to conduct inquiries on her and her male companion.

The Court ordered for the amount of gratification to be forfeited to the State and the passport to be returned to the defendant.
